The Road America Communications Department is dedicated to
providing media members with the best service and information
necessary for optimal coverage of track events. This information
is intended to assist you in planning your coverage of Road
America events and will help ensure a positive track
experience.
Media credentials will be issued only to recognized daily
newspapers, news services, television and radio networks, racing
publications, and other outlets regularly covering motorsports.
Freelance journalists, photojournalists, and videographers may
only receive a credential if on a specific assignment from
a professionally recognized and accredited media
organization that is actively engaged in the coverage of a
specific event or pre-approved story concept at Road America.
Individual social pages, websites, or accounts managed by
freelancers designed for profit do not classify as a media
organization.
Requests must be submitted via the online request
application forms by the editor, sports editor, sports
director, or sports producer. Credentials will be issued to
authorized personnel only to provide timely event coverage. A
freelancer cannot request an accreditation on behalf of the
organization he or she is representing; the request shall come
from an Assigning Editor or General Manager.
Credential requests submitted less than two days before
an event will be denied.
COMMERCIAL PROJECTS / LICENSING: Commercial photographers,
authors, and producers of film/video projects are
not eligible for media credentials unless they are working
on an officially licensed product for Road America and/or a
partner or business entity. Those seeking access to Road
America for a commercial project or to enter into a
licensing discussion in regard to Road
America’s photographic imagery, film/video records, and
registered trademarks and/or copyrights should
contact media@roadamerica.com
Working media credentials will not be issued for employees in
marketing, promotions, sales, advertising, etc.
All applications will be carefully reviewed by Road America and
the applicable event sanctioning body (NASCAR, INDYCAR, IMSA)
with regard to broadcast (radio & television) licensing and
agreements that will be in place for each event. Efforts will be
made to honor all requests, but the track and sanctioning body
reserves the right to change or deny any media
requests. Misuse of credentials may result in revocation
and/or fine. All credential holders must sign the Road America
Media waiver and agree to the terms and conditions with a Road
America staff member present. In person, you must be at least 18
to receive a credential.
Holders of Annual Cards
Team PR representatives or journalists with an Annual Hard
Card issued by the respective sanctioning bodies should also
fill out the online request application forms to
reserve media center access and parking. All access and
parking passes will be held for pick-up at the credential office
at Gate 3. Road America does not mail
credentials.
Media Access
Working media credentials provide access to the VIP media center,
Victory Lane, and garage/paddock areas.
Photographers
Photographers with a Road America Wristband and a Photo
Vest provided by Road America Communications (or the
sanctioning body) will have access beyond the spectator fencing.
This access is determined on a case-by-case basis depending on
the nature of coverage by a particular media outlet and is not
guaranteed for every request. Photographers will
receive guidelines and instructions during regular
photo meetings regarding access. Photo credential
requests submitted less than two days before an event will be
denied. All photographers and credentialed media must be at least
18 years old.
Photographers are reminded that photo meetings are
mandatory, and failure to appear at one of the non-race day or
race day meetings will result in the revocation of credentials or
non-issuance of a photo vest at the discretion of Road America.
Failure to adhere to working policies and regulations detailed at
meetings may result in loss of credentials and/or revocation of
rights. Photo Guidelines Failure to return an issued photo vest at
the end of the event will result in the indefinite revocation of
photo rights and privileges at Road America. Attempts to steal
photo vests will result in indefinite revocation of photo rights
and privileges and may result in prosecution.
Photographers looking for prime locations to capture stunning
images and tips should reference our Photo
Location Guide.
Photos and videos cannot be used for commercial or retail
purposes without the express written permission of the
visiting series and/or Road America. Commercial exploitation
of any Road America event and/or its participants is strictly
prohibited without prior consent. A list of clients and license
agreement of usage must be filed, and a fee may be assessed.
Freelance photographers attempting to solicit services via
online entities or social sites for profit without being on
assignment will have their credential privileges revoked
indefinitely.
Credential Pick Up
Media credentials (wristbands) and parking passes will be issued
by showing your digital Speed Pass waiver on your smartphone
