NEW ROAD AMERICA WISCONSIN SPECIALTY LICENSE PLATE COMING IN OCTOBER
ELKHART LAKE, Wis., – Sept. 30, 2021 – Road America officials recently announced that the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has approved a new Wisconsin “special recognition” license plate for the historic venue featuring the track outline, and Road America lettering in while over a solid black background. The “special recognition” plates, are an excellent way for Road America and Wisconsin motorsports fans to share their passion for “America’s National Park of Speed.” As one of the most storied and recognizable symbols of the track, the 4-mile, 14-turn outline was an easy choice to be the principal feature of the newly stamped license plate. The Road America plate fee will include an issuance fee of $15. Personalized plates are available for an additional $15 every year. There is no donation fee for this plate and all Wisconsin motorists will be able to apply for this plate.
The idea for the new “special recognition” plates stemmed from a group of passionate Road America fans, who brought the concept to Road America management. Together, a signature campaign was created to qualify the new plates for production. After a few months and hundreds of signatures, the “special recognition” plate application was presented and approved by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
“I think it’s wonderful when our fans come together in a creative way to share their enthusiasm for Road America,” said Mike Kertscher, Road America’s President and General manager. “We know how much our fans and season pass holders love this place, and now they can showcase it on their vehicles every day. We are extremely proud of how many supported this effort and we look forward to seeing the plates all over Wisconsin.”
The new plate will be available to order on October 4, 2021. Road America fans wishing to personalize their plates can have one to six characters on their plates and they must be ordered online, as DMV Customer Service Centers do not issue special or personalized license plates.
